Contest

Cube2Cash
Hello everyone,

The Houston Cubing Association is starting a new Cube2Cash program, in which donated cubes are given away to cubers (just like you) and all the collected money will be given to the
Ronald Mcdonald House Houston The cubes that are being given away are 4 Type A I cubes, generously donated by the Haiyan Zhuang, current World Record holder of the 3x3 Blindfold solve and the webmaster of http://www.cubehaiyan.com

How the Contest works:

There are 4 cubes that are going to be given away in the contest. That means that you have 4 chances to win a Type A I cube (
1st 10 people only, everyone else gets 2). Each entry is only $2. You can pay by cash or by PayPal. If you want to pay by cash, please PM or email me, and I will give you my home address. Mail the money to my address, and PM or email me with your name, amount sent, address, and email. If you choose to pay by PayPal, send the payment via PayPal and PM or email me your name, your email, and the amount sent. The PayPal address is hcainfo@sbcglobal.net. PayPal users: In the statement, mention that this is a charity event organized by the Houston Cubing Association. After receiving your payment by either cash or PayPal, I will assign you a specific number and inform you that I have received your payment. PayPal users: if you do not receive a confirmation email/ PM in 48 to 72 hours, I probably did not receive your payment and your entry will not be counted (for mail payments it may take some time for the mail to get to me, so it could be 2 or more weeks depending on where you live). Please PM or email me again asking me if I got your payment if enough time has elapsed ( Paypal: 48 to 72 hours and Mail: 2 or more weeks depending on where you live).

After the contest is over ( The date set right now is
July 6th), I will film the drawing of the winners and put it on my YouTube Channel. I will use my calculator to generate random numbers and will choose the 8th number generated as the winner. I will do this 4 times to get all the winning numbers. Please note that if you win one cube, you cannot win another one.

Have fun and thanks for your support!

-Aditya Dargan, Founder and President of the Houston Cubing Association

P.S. My email is aditya(at)cubegeek(dot)net if you prefer to email me rather than using PM on the forum. Thank you, Mr. Haiyan Zhaung for donating the cubes.

Matyas Kuti: Hero or cheater?

There have been many debates regarding Matyas Kuti cheating. Nobody actually knows if he cheated or he did not. It all started when one guy on the speedsolving. forum was suspicious of Matya's fast times. He was probably jealous and made a post about him cheating. As soon as other people saw thus, they became to question Matyas. What method did he use? How did he memorize? What blindfold did he use? etc. So the debate heatened up to the point where he was "caught" cheating in a video. In an attempt at multi-bld, he messed up on one of the algorithms and he fixed it in a layer by layer method. This could only be done if he was peeking. So the WCA members came up with an idea; they were going to test Matyas under strict rules.

They were going to keep a piece of paper in front of him while he solved the cube. He did not come to prove himself. Then the WCA made the claim of Matyas cheating. There have been several harsh forum "fights" over this. He was declared cheating, and was banned until he gave back the money he had won in competitions. To my knowledge, he has not returned it yet. He can come back in competition after he pays the money back. After paying he has to wait for 3 years. Pretty harsh, but hey the WCA has to show control over the speedcubing world. Now people are getting all mad at him because he is cheating. Okay, so he cheated. People make mistakes and you have to forgive them at one time in life. He was young and arrogant. He learned his lesson. This should be a red flag to anyone else who tries to cheat in competition.

EDIT: Many speedcubers think that he is a thief and a cheater. He isĀ  because he stole like 2000 euros and has not yet returned the money, yet. I realize that there is much much controversy over this, so please don't send hate mails or anything like that. Thanks. Oh and please feel free to comment below, so that the information in this article is up to date and accurate

#2 S 2009-06-05 12:43 There is no debate. Kuti cheated; there is evidence that pretty much proved this much without a doubt.

I suggest you remove this article. It introduces debate and controversy where there really shouldn't be any. He stole 2000 euros that shouldn't have been his. Being a talented speedsolver has nothing to do with that.
