I got back from the Dallas Open yesterday. It was a tough competition. I didn't place top 3 in any event. So I came back empty handed. While I was there, I actually got the chance to try all the v-cubes. I am going to give a brief review of each cube. Personally, I do not have any v-cubes (yet). The v5 was pretty good. It is bigger than an eastsheen and smaller than the Rubik's brand. It has smooth rotation and everything.. One problem is that there is black instead of white. It feels awkward. The v6 was like the worst of the 3. It locks up alot, and is not smooth. You can mod it, however. The v7 was pretty good as the v5. It is a bit rounded, but it spins alot better than the v6. Overall v-cubes are pretty good investment. Currently there is still a special promotion going on, so you can buy the whole set for like 55 euros.

My thoughts on speedcubing |

For me, speedcubing has been an awesome hobby. It is not as popular as regular sports, but it is getting there. I always learn new things whenever I do a "cubing session". My sessions are generally up to 3 hours long ( I just get really bored, then). What I like about speedcubing is the fact that anybody with enough practice and dedication can achieve something great. Not true in every sport event. For example, I was watching the French Open today, and Roger Fedrer was like crying when he won the French Open. It is a great example on how awesome it feels to win. I mean anybody could just go and sign up for the French Open tennis tournament. Now lets take a look at the Olympics. First, you have to pretty good to get in the Olympics, and then you might win. This limits many people's chances for breaking a WR or something. In speedcubing, you could be in Germany and break a WR, or you could be in Texas and still be able to break a world record. That is the awesome part. It gives the potential of breaking a record despite how good you are right now. I also like speedcubing because it challenges your mind, alot. More thinking= Making more neuron connections in your brain= making you smarter. Well, sort of atleast.

When will the WR for the 3x3 cube will be broken? |

So when will the world record for 3x3 cube will be broken? Honestly, I have no idea, but it will be an awesome time. I mean less than 7 seconds? How will that be possible? Someone will have to completely dominate the Fridrich method or another method to get a time of 6.xx seconds. In the future, I am sure new methods/ ideas will develop around the Fridrich method, making it even faster. Having these new records will make it more difficult to new cubers to get to world record speeds. That is good because the world of speedcubing will get better and better. It will attract more attention worldwide. So who will actually hold this new World Record? Only time will tell obviously. Some possible candidates for the new WR will be Erik, Yu Nakijima, Harris Chan, etc... Now just imagine a sub 7 average. Now that is going to be truly amazing...
